Thank y'all for being here.
Thanks to everybody at Q L N for having us this evening.
And it's such a nice night.
And the weather held out, you know, it's just been, been pretty cool.
So, and it's first time I've played in Erie, Pennsylvania, my hometown in about three years.
So it's awfully nice to be back and see so many familiar faces and thank y'all so much.
I don't owe you guys any money, do I?
I think I owe Tom Weber money.
So years ago my kids got me a James Taylor songbook for Father's Day one year.
And that kind of started this whole thing off.
I'd been playing for years and years all over the place, you know, and in Erie, you know, four or five nights a week during the season.
And my kids, seeing what was happening to my hairline, they said, you know, dad, maybe you should give James Taylor a shot.
So this next tune we're about to play for you is the first tune that we learned from that book.
I hope you enjoy it.

[audience cheering] So in 1970, James Taylor was about 20 years old and he was the first artist to be signed to Apple Records, the Beatles new record label.
For some of you younger guys, the Beatles were like a super big band in the sixties.
[audience laughing] So he was away from home, you know, his home in the Carolinas, his family was in Chapel Hill and he was lonesome.
He was just some unknown American kid from the Carolinas making a record in England in the same studios that the Beatles were working in.
And he felt quite alone, pretty heavy times for a 20 year old James Taylor.
So this tune that we're about to play for you just kind of started to spill out and it was kind of talking about how he missed his home.
And of course, this is "Carolina in my mind" and it's a sing along.
If you know the words, please help us out.
If you don't, just keep it to yourselves.
But there's a line in the bridge of this tune where he says, "With a holy host of others standing around me still, I'm on the dark side of the moon."
And the dark side of the moon was of course a reference to his own obscurity.
Nobody knew who he was over there.
He was just an unknown kid.
It was not a reference to the "Dark side of the moon" album by the Pink Floyd, that was recorded in the same rooms but several years later.
And of course the "holy host of others standing around him" were John, Paul, George and Ringo.
So he was in pretty good company.
And I better get this capo on or I won't be able to do this.
How we doing so far?
You guys all right?

This next tune is a cover.
James Taylor has always loved doing covers of his favorite songs by other artists.
This is written by the Motown songwriting trio of Holland-Dozier-Holland.
We just lost Lost Lamont Dozier a few weeks ago.
So we're gonna dedicate this tune to Lamont.
Again, this is a sing along.
If you guys know the words, help us out.
